A candidate joining the B. Com degree course in Kerala University under private study depending on his area of interest can choose any optional subject for his study along with other subjects. The demand for B.Com graduates with Co-operation as optional subject is quite high as compared with the other optional subjects. They have vast area of job opportunities in co-operative departments , Service Co-operative Banks and societies, District Co operative banks , Urban Banks, Central Societies, Kerala Banks, Card Banks and various other Apex societies Like Kerala State Co-operative Consumer Federation , State Co-operative Marketing Federation, State Co-operative banks etc. As per the Kerala State Co-operative Act 1969, a person to be employed in Co-Operative organization should posses HDC, JDC or B.Com degree with Co-operation as optional subjects. In State Co-operative Departments there are large numbers of vacancies in the category of Co-operative Auditors and Co- operative Inspectors. The required qualification to apply for the post is B.com with Co-operation or JDC or HDC. The candidates who have passed B.Com with other optional subjects can never apply unless they posses any other co-operative qualification as laid down in the Co-operative Societies Act.
